Topstak enjoys Esse’s Humble by Nature cooking extravaganza
Matt Tebbutt, top chef and Saturday Kitchen star, cooked up a feast at Esse’s open day at the Pig and Apple cafe at Humble by Nature in Penallt.
Richard Finucane, Topstak director, and Richard Bevan from the Topstak Monmouth showroom listened to an interesting introduction to the Humble by Nature concept, given by Kate Humble, who bought the farm after she and her husband, TV producer, Ludo Graham, fell in love with the Wye Valley.
Delicious food was then prepared by Matt – who use the fabulous cut, hogget of lamb – meat from a lamb that is more than a year old, and brimming with flavour – served spiced with guacamole and flatbread.
Experienced chef, Dan Blewitt, then put the magnificent Esse Bakeheart through its paces, cooking up a luscious vegetable curry using seasonal, local produce.
Esse is the UK’s longest-standing stove manufacturer, and has been producing high quality range cookers and wood burning stoves since 1854.
Richard Finucane was delighted with his experience at Humble by Nature,
“The cooking demonstration day was hugely informative and a lot of fun. Both chefs gave us plenty of tips on cooking and how to make the most of the extremely versatile range of Esse cookers.”
“Humble by Nature, Kate and Ludo’s working farm in the Wye Valley, is also a truly inspiring place. The farm is now a thriving rural skills centre, and home to a flock of sheep, chickens and a herd of cattle. The Pig and Apple café is also excellent, serving outstanding home-made food.”
Esse’s range can be seen at Topstak showrooms in the Vale of Glamorgan and Monmouth.
